Eye Health
Our vision gradually deteriorates as we age, although carotenoids found in the PUREDIA SEABERRY™ may slow this process. It also contains vision-boosting vitamin A and omegas-3 and -7, which may ease dry eyes by stimulating natural lubrication. In a randomized double-blind experiment, a hundred men and women between the ages of 20 and 75 suffering from dry eyes digested a two-gram daily dosage of either Sea Buckthorn oil or placebo oil for a period of three months. It was reported that the Sea Buckthorn oil alleviated the symptoms caused by cooler weather, dryness of the air, aging and contact lenses. The average osmolality in the tea film of the Sea Buckthorn treatment group was higher than the placebo group, which indicated eyes properly lubricated.

Besides the valuable fatty acids; Omega-3, -6, -7 and -9, Puredia SeaBerry oil also contains vitamin E and vitamin A (from beta-carotene). These bioactive nutrients act together to contribute to the maintenance of normal skin, mucous membranes, and vision by fighting off free radicals and regulating inflammation.

Oral Health, Teeth, & Gums
Puredia SeaBerry will give you plenty of reasons to smile. That’s because it’s chalk full of vitamins A & E, antioxidants, and omegas that support healthy, vibrant teeth and gums. The high content in omega 7 in Tibetan Sea Buckthorn oil nourishes mucous membranes and provides anti-inflammation support for gums. A study with 60 children with mouth ulcers were treated with Sea Buckthorn oil 3-4 times a day and all children showed significant improvement after 2 days of treatment. Numerous antimicrobial studies show its powerful effect as an oral, skin, and intestinal microorganism.

Gastrointestinal & Digestive Support
The gastrointestinal (GI) tract processes what we eat into the nutrients our body needs. One in five Americans suffers from some type of GI disorder, with women affected more than men. Studies have shown that Puredia SeaBerry™ possesses a distinct fatty acid profile that protects and strengthens membrane across eyes, mouth, gastric systems and supports the healing of ulcers and irritation of the mucosal linings. Omega-7, in particular, is well known for lubricating and regenerating mucous membranes in the digestive tract for proper functioning. Its natural anti-inflammatory response properties may also help ease discomfort and irritation. Multiple studies on helping the gastric and intestinal problem like ulcers and indigestion have shown significant results. In a case study of gastric ulcers, one group was treated with medication while one was treated with SeaBerry Seed oil, with the results of the latter group being superior to the former group.

Liver Health
A diet rich in fresh fruits, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals yet low in saturated fats is vital for liver health. The Sea Buckthorn perfectly fits the bill on this one, providing all the nutrients the liver needs to function optimally. In a study comparing milk thistle and Sea Buckthorn, Sea Buckthorn was shown to be better for liver protection. Its omega-7 is also related to triglyceride reduction, which is why it has been used traditionally to combat cirrhosis and protect the liver. The oil reduces the concentrations of aflatoxins in the liver and diminishes their adverse effects. Another clinical study, published in the Journal of Biological Sciences, found that it helps normalize liver enzymes and serum bile acids. It also demonstrated a compatible result to treatment with milk thistle.

Cognition & Thinking
Mental decline and memory loss may come with aging, although we can do things to preserve our cognitive abilities. Sea Buckthorn contains many brain-boosting components, including vitamins, micronutrients, antioxidants, and flavonoids. Many studies show that its omega-3 may also play a powerful role in reducing cognitive decline.

Sea Buckthorn has shown it plays a beneficial role in the prevention and management of several age-related problems minus the neurologic, endocrine, allergic, and metabolic side effects. In various studies, Sea Buckthorn’s dietary antioxidants, including polyphenols and essential omega-3 fatty acids, have repeatedly been shown to reduce cognitive decline and improve acute cognitive function in older individuals, Alzheimer’s patients, and animals. In a recent study by the Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University, scientists treated elderly individuals who suffered from dementia with Sea Buckthorn juice for six months. The results showed an overall improvement in cognitive functions, indicating that the Sea Buckthorn treatment appeared to be an assisting remedial measure for age-related memory and other cognitive deficits. What is it that makes Sea Buckthorn so effective in this study? Well, it was found that its antioxidant polyphenols remove free radicals in the body that have the potential to cause oxidative damage to the brain.

Cardiovascular Disease
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States and accounts for 1/3 of all fatalities. Exercising regularly and eating a proper diet of heart-healthy nutrients can help reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. Essential fatty acids, such as Omega-3 and 6 are well known for promoting a healthy heart, while vitamin E, A, B-complex, and beta-carotene provide much-needed antioxidants to fight off free radicals. The cardiovascular benefits of Sea Buckthorn have been widely studied. For example, studies have found that omega 7 in Sea Buckthorn can help to reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL) which lowers the overall triglyceride level. 1-3 In a human study performed in 40 obese children, the supplementation of Sea Buckthorn helped to lower BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure and body inflammatory marker. 4 In another study carried out in 12 men, results demonstrated that Sea Buckthorn can help to prevent atherosclerosis by enhancing the elasticity of the vasculature and reducing platelet aggregation. 5

Detox & Weight management
Sea Buckthorn’s perfect combination of flavonoids combats free radicals while its high concentration of dietary fiber regulates bowel movements. And there’s good news for those working on their summer bods— because its special omega-7 helps create the perfect environment for gut bacteria to function, so it can help keep hunger in check. In an animal study using the Sea Buckthorn baby leave extract, findings revealed a reduction of the visceral fat content and body weight by regulating the lipid and antioxidant metabolism. 1

A couple of recent studies indicate that the Sea Buckthorn could be a heavy (or slim) hitter for weight management as well. It is believed that the high omega-7 content promotes fullness, restores insulin sensitivity, and burns fat. In fact, Dr. Oz even featured these findings on his show, recommending daily intake of Sea Buckthorn oil to promote weight management.2

Metabolic Disease
A Harvard patented study has summed up some unique health benefits associated with omega 7, Palmitoleic acid. It has addressed the underlying factors contributing to metabolic syndrome, which would normally require multiple drugs to achieve. Puredia SeaBerry™ is the most potent source of natural omega 7, providing a powerful defense by reducing the risk of problematic consequences of the metabolic disease, including heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer. Here are some health benefits associated with omega 7 from Sea Buckthorn:

– Acts as signaling molecules to facilitate communication between fat and muscle tissue in the body in order to optimize energy utilization and storage
– Reduces overall triglycerides, reduces bad cholesterol (LDL) and boosts good cholesterol (HDL) 6
– Reduces liver fat production and accumulation, and also helps to normalize the liver enzymes 4,5
– Supports cardiovascular health by regulating cholesterol level, inhibiting platelet aggregation and increasing vessel elasticity. In a lab study carried out by Clevland clinic, omega 7 supplementation reduced the size of atherosclerotic plaque in the aorta by 47% compared to control group. 1
– Powerful anti-inflammation 2
– Restores insulin sensitivity and lowers blood glucose 5

Chronic inflammation induced by modern day diet can lead to chronic diseases of the heart and brain and/or speed up the aging process. Puredia SeaBerry is an abundant source of omega -3,-6,-9 and the rare Omega 7. Not all omegas are created equal. Omega 7 is found to be particularly effective in anti-inflammation. Studies have found that incorporating omega 7 can significantly inhibit fat cells from causing inflammation and can also enhance the tissue ability to respond to insulin. 1 The mechanism of anti-inflammation is due to the relation of the master inflammatory complex called NF-kappaB. 4 In a human study where participants had high levels of C-reactive protein, an inflammatory marker in blood, taking 210mg per day of omega 7 resulted in 51% reduction of the blood inflammatory marker. 3 Compared to omega 3, which is also known for its great anti-inflammatory effects, requires a dosage 6 times higher (1.2g to 2.7g) to achieve the same effect as omega 7.

Children’s Health
Children need a balanced diet to grow strong and healthy, though this is often lacking in today’s homes and school cafeterias. Sea Buckthorn helps fill in many of the nutritional gaps with vitamins A, D, E & K, trace elements and minerals, and the essential fatty acids like omega-3, increasingly rare in our modern diets. A UK study conducted by Dr. Madeleine Portwood indicated that adding omega-3 to children’s diets improved learning and classroom performance. Sea Buckthorn’s robust nutritional profile also supports children’s immune systems to help cut down on those unwanted sick days.

Immune System Response
A complex yet vital structure, the immune system requires balance and harmony to function at its best. Scientists have long recognized that malnourished individuals are more vulnerable to infectious diseases. Proper nutrition, in the form of essential fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, all found naturally found in Puredia Seaberry™ which helps support the immune system and nourish the body.

Vitamin C is one of the most crucial aids to the immune system. One study showed that SeaBerry fruit has a concentration of vitamin C (average of 695 mg/100g) that is approximately 12 times that of oranges. 1, while Puredia’s SeaBerry powder is the concentrated form of fruits and can have vitamin C content as high as 2,000mg/100g. The immune benefits of SeaBerry were shown by a study conducted in China that used SeaBerry juice to treat recurrent respiratory infections in children, with results rivaling the best methods of modern medicine.

Recent research also indicates that omega-3s may play a powerful role in treating disorders where the immune response is hyper-stimulated, such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, multiple sclerosis, and systemic lupus. Because of its high levels of omega-3s, the SeaBerry could become a major player in the omega game, especially considering that fish, the other major omega-3 source, is increasingly depleting. SeaBerry powder is also superior to every other omega powder because its high antioxidant value acts as a natural stabilizer, which prevents it from turning rancid.

Mood & Sleep
Sea Buckthorn tea has long been known as the tea that helps you sleep because of its relaxing, snooze-inducing qualities. Naturally high in nutrients that relax mood and enhance sleep quality, this beverage is the perfect bedtime nightcap due to its negligible caffeine (150 times less than green tea). Tired of counting sheep? Count Sea Buckthorn berries instead.
Women’s Health
Sea Buckthorn’s multiple and high fatty acid content provides many unique benefits for women, including acting as a natural lubricant to relieve vaginal dryness. Typically, vaginal dryness is indicative of moisture loss and dehydration in other areas of the body as well, including mucous membranes. Vaginal dryness may be caused by a chemical imbalance, especially in a key essential fatty acid. Omega-7 regenerates the mucous lining and keeps mucous membranes hydrated, which may greatly reduce vaginal dryness symptoms as well. A study at the University Central Hospital in Finland also indicated that sea buckthorn considerably alleviates chronic vaginal inflammation with the omega-7 effect of rejuvenating the mucosal lining cell. Traditionally, sea buckthorn has been used to treat a variety of cervical, and other gynecological health concerns. In a study that was tested in 116 postmenopausal women, the subjects with intake of sea buckthorn oil have significant improvement on the vaginal health and its relating symptoms, suggesting it is a good alternative to estrogen treatment for vaginal atrophy.

Skin & Beauty
The Puredia SeaBerry™ is truly a thing of beauty, containing 190 bioactive substances that nourish your body from both the inside-out and the outside-in. Tibetan Sea Buckthorn oil has been used for 1000’s of years for a variety of skin conditions. It’s been applied on wounds and burns to support skin cell regeneration. With an amazing combination of 190 bioactive nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and all known omega fatty acids, including 3, 6, 9, and the rare omega-7, Puredia SeaBerry is perfect for application to all forms of skin issues.

Hydration and Elasticity
The 3 big groups of antioxidants in Seaberry are B-carotene, SOD and flavonoids fight off everyday free radicals induced by environment, aging or stress. These powerful antioxidants provide age-defying benefits by fighting free-radical damage that leads to fine lines and wrinkles. Vitamins A & E promote a healthy, bright complexion, while vitamin C restores skin through collagen synthesis. Studies have shown that both topically applied or dietary intake of Seaberry oil significantly improves skin hydration and elasticity compared to the placebo group.

Hair and Scalp Care
With the natural anti-microbial effect compatible to antibiotics, Seaberry is great for dendrite care. Omega -3 in Seaberry hydrates the hair and scalp while omega-7 fosters youth through scalp and hair rejuvenation. And the 18 different types of amino acid naturally existed in the berry can help to strengthen and repair the shaft and avoid hair breakage. With 190+ nutrients penetrating the scalp and nourishing the base and hair from the roots, SeaBerry gives a lasting moisturizing effect.

Inflammations are one of the major drivers of skin issues like psoriasis, eczema, and redness. Omega 7 has natural anti-inflammation response properties to help alleviate painfully and often embarrassing visible skin conditions. In a study of 49 atopic dermatitis patients, the use of Seaberry oil has significantly improved the inflammation and symptoms related.

Sun/UV Stress
Ultraviolet rays from the sun can burn unprotected skin, strain eyes, and damage hair. The Sea Buckthorn’s high concentration of vitamins A & E, flavonoids, antioxidants, and omega fatty acids can absorb UV rays and protect against UV-induced stress. Sea Buckthorn is so powerful in this arena that it was used by Russian cosmonauts as added protection against intense UV exposure during space exploration. Sea Buckthorn can also help reverse damage already done, providing much-needed replenishing support to skin cells.
